James Aversano III

James Aversano III has been engaged in the practice of law since 1997. Mr. Aversano joined the firm in 2003 and became a shareholder in 2007. Mr. Aversano now handles a wide variety of business, corporate, land use and real estate matters, with a concentration in environmental law. He represents development and industrial clients, particularly in the commercial real estate, site remediation, renewable energy and waste management sectors. Mr. Aversano has worked extensively on brownfield projects, as well as projects involving CAFRA, waterfront development, freshwater wetlands, coastal wetlands and tidelands appeals.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Aversano was a Deputy Attorney General in the Hazardous Site Litigation Section, where he represented the State of New Jersey in all phases of federal and state litigation involving contaminated sites under the Spill Compensation and Control Act and CERCLA. As a Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Aversano also handled brownfield transactions, permit decisions and environmental insurance coverage matters.
